Driver drives into Trader Joe’s shop in Castro Valley; shoppers injured


CASTRO VALLEY – Several customers of a Trader Joe’s store in Castro Valley were injured after a driver drove into the market on Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the accident happened at the store at 22224 Redwood Road.

Chopper 5 accommodated at least four people being taken from the store on stretchers. Their condition was not immediately known.

A photo posted by the Alameda County Fire Department showed a gray sedan inside the store, next to a cash register. Firefighters said they were assessing the building for danger and injuries.

No word on what led to the car crashing in the store.
