Ducati Monster 2021 to launch in India on September 23, 2021

Ducati India made two big announcements today. The first was that the company started taking reservations for the new Monster in India. And the second announcement is that Ducati will announce pricing for the new Monster on September 23, 2021. The new Monster will be Ducati’s flagship midweight naked sports bike and it will take on the Triumph Street Triple R and Kawasaki Z900 in India. . The new Ducati Monster was unveiled to the world late last year and arrives in India almost 9 months after its global debut, delayed due to the second wave of the pandemic.

The bike is getting a complete top-to-bottom overhaul for 2021. A new aluminum swingarm is in play and the Monster is now losing its curves and getting bolder, thinner and meaner. The LED headlight, chiseled fuel tank as well as the new frame mean the bike loses up to 18kg in weight compared to the old model, with a dry curb weight of 166kg. The 2021 Ducati Monster gets a liquid-cooled 937cc L-Twin Testastretta engine. The engine is also present on other Ducati models such as the Hypermotard and the 2021 SuperSport. On the Monster, it is tuned to develop 110 hp at 9250 rpm with maximum torque of 93 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and Ducati offers a bidirectional quick-shifter as standard.

The Monster receives an all-new aluminum frame inspired by the Panigale V4. The rear subframe is made of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP), which makes it lighter and stronger than before. The bike is equipped with a 43mm inverted fork with 130mm of travel and an adjustable rear single shock with 140mm of travel. The bike also gets new alloys that are 17 inches lighter than before. They are shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber, 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear. Up front, it receives two Brembo M4.32 4-piston monobloc calipers that grip two 320mm discs. At the rear, the bike receives a single 245mm disc gripped by a Brembo caliper. Like the front brake, it features sintered brake pads.

The new Monster benefits from ABS, cornering ABS, power launch, traction control and wheel control, as well as ride-by-wire and three drive modes which are Sport, Touring and Urban. All modes allow the rider to adjust other electronic components as needed. The new Ducati Monster also gets a new 4.3-inch color TFT instrument console with graphics inspired by the Panigale V4. The price of the new monster is likely to be between ₹ 10 lakh and 11 lakh. Overall, the bike comes in two variations, Monster and Monster Plus. The latter receives a mosquito net above the lighthouse and a hood for the rear seat.
