Emir hails Governor Ugwuanyi for his peaceful coexistence with the northern community of Enugu – TBEN

The Emir of Bichi, Dr Nasiru Ado Bayero, expressed his gratitude to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for the peace enjoyed by the northern community in the state, under his administration.

Emir of Bichi told Governor Ugwuanyi that his administration’s commitment to national integration and peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians in Enugu State, regardless of tribe, religion and political differences, is “well recognized”, adding that “we will not forget this; we will always be grateful to you ”.

Dr Ado Bayero also praised the traditional rulers of Enugu State, noting that on the basis of “your relations with the northern community in your own local communities, our reports about them have been positive; so we are very grateful ”.

Speaking when Governor Ugwuanyi welcomed him to Government House, Enugu, the Emir, who is the younger brother of Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, took the opportunity to assure the governor that “Back in Kano State, we will protect your interests; we will make sure that any Igbo man or any other Nigerian who lives in Kano is safe.

He argued that “our relationship has grown beyond now and we will not allow this situation to develop.”

The emir therefore praised Governor Ugwuanyi for his hospitality and his unusual leadership style anchored in peace, security, inclusion and good governance.

Describing his visit to Enugu State as a homecoming, he recounted the lasting relationship his late father Ado Bayero had with his Igbo friends, especially when he was chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) for over 20 years.

He revealed that his visit to the state was aimed at “building this bridge between northern Nigeria and that part of Nigeria, the east,” stressing, “We will continue to build this bridge; we will continue to ensure that Nigeria remains one and despite all this, we will remain brothers by the grace of God ”.
