The Commander of the 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, Brigadier General Ahmed Taiwo, confirmed that soldiers stormed the Lekki toll gate protest scene with live ammunition.
Taiwo said soldiers left the Bonny Camp military base to end the SARS protest scene with live ammunition.
The general said this during cross-examination on Saturday on his previous testimony.
However, he said the live ammunition was for backup and was not used by the soldier.
Olamide Fusika, advocate for the end of the SARS protesters, asked the army general what the soldiers left Bonny camp with, General Taiwo, said: “Vehicles and guns”.
Asked further whether the soldiers’ rifles only had rubber bullets, as he previously said, General Taiwo said they had live bullets, but quickly added that the bullets real were intended for safeguard measures.
