The Apex Board of the Cricket Supervisory Board of India (BCCI) met virtually on Saturday and the top three areas of focus on the agenda were the next Australia tour, England’s visit after the series Australia and the start of the Indian national season with an eye on the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to ANI, a BCCI official who was part of the meeting said the board has a lot of plans to welcome England to India and that a bio-security bubble will be created in three or four venues, the pink ball test being either played in Ahmedabad. or Kolkata.
“The idea is to create a bio-secure bubble at three to four sites with government permission. The pink ball test will take place in Ahmedabad or Kolkata. This call will be taken at the right time by reviewing the conditions. But yes, England is coming to India, ”the official said.
When asked about the Australian series, the official said the 14-day quarantine would take place from now on. One of the main areas of concern regarding the Australian series was the quarantine period Indian players are facing after moving to the country after IPL in the UAE.
While the Australian government has repeatedly hinted that there can be no easing, BCCI has called on Cricket Australia to find a solution, as Indian players are already part of the bio-secure bubble due to the IPL in progress.
“Looks like the quarantine phase will remain for 14 days. The venue remains as is and the itinerary has arrived. We will go directly from the UAE, so the idea is to see if the quarantine period can be reduced. But from now doesn’t look like, ”the official said.
The fate of the national season and the national cricketers is definitely something that is always in balance, as creating individual bio-secure bubbles to accommodate a full season of the Ranji Trophy does not seem achievable in the current scenario. There have been calls to play the Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament as it would be more convenient.
The official said they are currently only watching the Ranji Trophy and Women’s Days. “It’s a risky situation because we have to be careful with so many teams and players involved. For now, we are looking at a start of January with the Ranji Trophy and the female players for a day. But we have to constantly monitor the situation before starting, ”the official said.
The 2018-2019 accounts of the BCCI were also approved at a meeting.
