To update its policy of skills acquisition and youth empowerment, the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has launched a call for applications from qualified candidates for appointments as CEOs of the new State technology center and innovation centers for young people in Enugu Urban and Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Region.

A statement by the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, revealed that the advertising for the posts of Director General was in line with the State Government’s commitment to the immediate launch of the two technology hubs and innovation centers for young people. .

Prof. Ortuanya explained that “the general managers will be the general managers responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Enugu State Technology Poles and Youth Innovation Centers.”

The SSG added that their tasks also include the management of the youth training company in the centers; coordinate and direct the heads of departments; supervise personnel affairs and perform such other duties as may be delegated to them from time to time by the line ministry.

He stressed that a candidate eligible for appointment as director general of the center must have “a good specialized diploma or its equivalent in information and communication technologies, computer science, engineering, administration, management. and in other related disciplines from a recognized university or other institution. of higher education ”.

Professor Ortuanya, who argued that the interested candidate should have at least five (5) years of related experience in the relevant sector, revealed that “possession of a master’s degree or graduate certificate would be a additional benefit ”.

SSG therefore requested qualified and interested applicants to submit in sealed envelopes their typed applications with ten (10) copies of relevant references, Curriculum Vitae (CV), two (2) recent photographs, names and addresses of three (3) ) arbitrators, one of whom must be the candidate’s current employer, to the Permanent Secretary (General Administration), Office of the Secretary of State Government, Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu, no later than March 12, 2021.

The statement noted that the sealed envelopes should be marked “General Manager Position, Enugu State Technology Hub and Innovation Center” in the upper left corner, indicating the preferred center (Enugu Urban or Obollo Afor).

He stressed that each arbitrator should forward a confidential report on the candidate directly to the above address, stating that “terms of service are as accessible in the state public service system” as “successful candidates will have. entitled to all officially approved benefits. attached to the post of general manager ”.

Recall that the administration of Governor Ugwuanyi started the massive construction and renovation of the facilities of the centers last year, an interesting undertaking that the Commissioner for Science and Technology, the Hon. The Commissioner further revealed that the services to be rendered in the Tech Hubs for the benefit of the population of Enugu State, especially the youth, include computer training programs, solar skills training. , computer coding, web design, graphic design, confectionery, and hands-on technical training, among others.
