The Dubai Health Authority stressed the importance of having a first aid kit in every home, to deal with emergency accidents and minor injuries quickly, to reduce their aggravation.

The authority explained that the first aid kit should include several basic components, including “sterile single-use gloves, patches, bandages, adhesive tape, sterile gauze pads and eye pads, antiseptic wipes, and a thermometer.”

And she continued: The first aid kit should also include “antibiotic ointments, especially for burns, and anti-insect bites, eye wash solution, sterile solution for cleaning wounds, antiseptic for wounds, medicines such as “anti-diarrheals and laxatives, antihistamines and pain relievers, in addition to forceps.” And scissors, cotton balls, an elastic band to stop bleeding, and hand sanitizer.”

The authority stressed the need to store the first aid bag in an accessible place away from children’s hands, and to keep the bag in a cool, dry place, and to check it regularly to replace expired or used supplies.
