Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has built more than 15 projects costing more than 15 billion dirhams to serve Expo 2020.
The portfolio of completed projects includes the 2020 Dubai Metro route spanning 15 km and connecting seven stations, the purchase of 50 trains with spacious and stylish interiors and the construction of roads spanning 138 km of track with nine overflights, said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director, chairman of the board of RTA.
The authority has deployed 200 public buses with first-class specifications, designating 18 stations and stops for buses in hot spots in Dubai and other key cities in the United Arab Emirates. A total of 15,000 taxis and limousines will be used for the event.
The RTA has also provided 30,000 parking spaces at the Expo site and will use smart technologies, applications and artificial intelligence to facilitate the movement of Expo visitors on the metro, buses and taxis. .
Al Tayer said road infrastructure and public transport networks will provide express mobility services to visitors to the World Expo in Dubai and other emirates in the United Arab Emirates.
He said the projects received immense support from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, and active follow-up from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. , Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council.

Company command and control center
RTA’s preparations for the mega show also include the construction of the company’s command and control center. “It is one of the largest and most sophisticated control centers in the world. We have built a smart traffic hub that uses cutting edge smart technologies to manage traffic, ”said Al Tayer.
“From the moment Dubai announced that it had the privilege of hosting Expo 2020, RTA focused on implementing Sheikh Mohammed’s guidelines to build an integrated infrastructure of roads and networks of transportation to provide a unique, smooth and fast mobility service to Expo 2020 visitors from within the UAE and overseas, ”Al Tayer added.
