NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. (TBEN) – Family members told CBS3 Leslie Lizet Basilio, 28, was the manager who was killed at a New Castle County subway PCS store on Saturday night. They say she was working alone when she was killed.

“I can’t explain this feeling, but it was like someone grabbed my heart,” Luis said.

A day after a gunman shot and killed Metro PCS store manager and mother of two young children, Leslie Lizet Basilio’s family reunited to remember her.

“It’s a ceremony we do for her soul, so God and guide her to heaven,” Luis said.

Leslie’s cousin Luis spoke to her around 5 p.m. Saturday, less than 30 minutes before police said a man attempted to rob the store.

“I was on the phone with her inviting her to come to my daughter’s birthday party,” the cousin added.

A neighbor who has watched over Basilio over the years saw the suspect leave in his 2008 Cadillac Escalade. He says the store has been broken into three times before, so he came to make sure his friend was okay.

“I know she’s alone late on Saturdays,” the friend said. “I looked and saw that this cash drawer was open, and I thought it wasn’t good.”

He called the store police and when they arrived the medics tried to revive Basilio, but it was too late.

Family, friends and customers decorated the storefront with flowers and balloons for the woman whose kindness was felt by all who knew her.

“Always help with any problem I have had with my phone,” one person said.

“She was a kind soul, you would ask her any favor, she would say yes,” added another.

Police continue to search for the shooter wanted in the fatal shooting.

Elsmere and the New Castle County Police are asking the public for help in identifying him. They think the suspect is armed and dangerous.

He was last seen driving in the victim’s car, a black 2008 Cadillac Escalade with the PC license plate 194769.
