Florence Pugh said she “doesn’t conform” to Hollywood body standards while decrying the “shocking” expectations placed on young women in the industry.
The actress, 27, recalls a time from the start of her career when people were “shocked” when she refused to diet for roles.
Florence joined Vogue’s YouTube channel on Thursday, showing viewers how she makes her garlic crostini bread and discussing women’s relationship with food.
Honestly: Florence Pugh, 27, has said she “doesn’t live up to” Hollywood body standards as she scrutinizes the “shocking” expectations placed on young women in the industry
As she chopped up the ingredients, she explained, “Women’s body image matters.
“Once your thighs and buttocks and breasts and stuff start growing, everything starts to change. And your relationship with food begins to change.
“I had a weird chapter at the beginning of my career, but that was because I didn’t measure up. I think that was confusing to people, especially in Hollywood.”
Speaking out: The actress recalled a time from the start of her career when people were ‘shocked’ when she refused to diet for roles
Florence continued, “Women in Hollywood, especially young women in Hollywood, are clearly putting themselves through all these ways to get every chance they need, because that’s the way it is.
“When I went and I did that project it was expected that you should be on whatever diet you want and to me that was shocking because I had never done that before.
“It’s not to say other people can’t, but I think I’ve definitely held my own on that front. I love food.’
Awful: “When I went and did that project it was expected that you should be on whatever diet you wanted and to me that was shocking,” she said
It comes after Florence hit back at cruel trolls who criticized her for not wearing a bra in a sheer Valentino dress, wondering how her “nipples” could “offend” people.
The actress is known for her breathtaking red carpet looks, but she was brutally cheated after wearing a sheer dress at the Valentino fashion show in Rome in July.
At the time, she hit back at the comments she received from both “vulgar” men and those who chose to “publicly destroy a woman’s body” with their comments.
Not complying: She added, “It’s not to say that other people can’t, but I think I definitely put my foot down on that aspect.” I love food’
Florence again condemned the criticism she received, saying it proved to cruel trolls that there is still “so much work to be done.”
Appearing as Vogue’s winter 2023 cover star, she told the publication, “I’ve never been afraid of what’s under the fabric, if I’m happy in it then I’m going to wear it.”
“Of course I don’t mean to offend people, but I guess my point is, how can my nipples offend you like that? It is very important that we do this.
“I know some people might make fun of me when I say that, but if a dress with my boobs peeking through encourages people to say, ‘Well, if you were going to get raped, you’d deserve it,’ just let me see that there is so much more work to do.’

Florence proved she wasn’t paying attention to the trolls as she rocked a sheer crop top when she arrived at the Valentino diner as part of October’s Paris Fashion Week.
Previously, Florence lashed out at trolls after wearing her gorgeous pink sheer tulle dress in Rome, but she denounced those who chose to “publicly destroy a woman’s body.”
She wrote in an impassioned post on Instagram, “What’s interesting to watch and see is how easy it is for men to completely destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for all to see.
“So many of you have wanted to aggressively let me know how disappointed you were by my ‘little t**s’, or how I should be ashamed of being so ‘flat chested’.
“I have lived in my body for a long time. I am fully aware of my breast size and am not afraid of it.’
