Focus – Armenians forced to evacuate Nagorno-Karabakh face an uncertain future


Like Rafik and Susan, dozens of Armenian families are reluctantly packing their bags in Nagorno-Karabakh, a controversial enclave in the heart of the Caucasus where a brief war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2020 claimed more than 5,000 lives. Aghavno, like two other villages in the Lachin corridor, is part of the territory Armenia ceded to Azerbaijan under the 2020 ceasefire agreements. The TBEN team met with some of those who had to evacuate their homes.
