Italian authorities have recently discovered a disturbing new facet of the international illicit drug trade, with Syrian origins. Amphetamine pills, produced in the war-torn country, are being shipped to Europe, something police were not aware of until a few months ago. Amphetamines, such as Captagon, were also seized in Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Romania. Our correspondents report what this means for Italy and the role played by the Neapolitan mafia in this dark circle of drug trafficking.
