Paul Ince went against former Manchester United stars in the media refusing to criticize Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by unleashing an explosive rant about his abilities and claims.
Pressure is mounting on Solskjaer after succumbing to a terrible 5-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. The Norwegian is believed to be secure in his position for the time being and retains key support from club chiefs Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold.
However, United’s dressing room doesn’t seem to share the same faith en masse. Eric Bailly reportedly openly confronted Solskjaer after his questionable selection of Harry Maguire last week. Details then emerged from Paul Pogba snubs his manager and leaves the club behind.
Today’s TBEN revealed the deadline Solskjaer set to save his skin, although Ince is apparently convinced the job is proving too hard for Solskjaer.
Ince won two Premier League titles in a six-year spell at Old Trafford which produced 10 major trophies.
And Ince has now given Solskjaer both kegs when it comes to his training acumen, workout appointments, training methods and more.
This is in stark contrast to many former United professionals working in the media who have generally been reluctant to blame Solskjaer.
“You can’t have a manager who brings Cardiff down and then goes to Molde, and expects to step into the biggest club in the world and produce a team that is going to challenge the best teams in the world with the staff he a, ”Ince told the Uni stand podcast (via the lens).
“You have an under 23 coach from the academy. He’s got Michael Carrick… no coaching experience. Micky Phelan… I don’t know what he’s doing. It’s his team.
“It’s his coaching team. So you analyze this with the world class players you have on the squad and we keep talking about tactics and not getting the best out of the players.
“Look at this staff. It’s the staff who Ole says are “very good, brilliant …” that’s a bunch of bullshit because they concede goals for fun.
Is Antonio Conte the right potential successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Man Utd?
Ince asks to see Solskjaer’s workouts
United have struggled mightily from a defensive standpoint lately. After conceding after just five minutes against Liverpool, the Red Devils have failed to keep a clean sheet for the 12th time in 13 appearances this season.
Taking into account the end of last season, United have only kept one shutout in their last 21 appearances in all competitions (excluding preseason).
Ince widely questioned Solskjaer’s training methods, asking, “Are they doing defensive work? Do they know where the players should be when the ball is in a certain position?
“I would actually like to go to Carrington and watch what they do in practice for a week. I would like to see it. I don’t know if they play five-a-side, a little volleyball and all that bullshit, head tennis. I don’t know what they are doing but I would like to go.
“I would like Ole to invite me over for a week and say, ‘Paul, this is what we do and this is how we do it’ because I don’t see any stuff on the weekends that tells me we’re working on this, work on that.
