Inadequate salary, edited images and screen facade of Guy Sebastian: former candidate for The Voice, Natalie Gauci, lifts the veil on the behind-the-scenes secrets of the show

Former Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci has lifted the veil on her experience competing on The Voice this year.

The 38-year-old, who was recruited by Channel Nine as a nominee this year, was quick to criticize the show for becoming ‘over-marketed’ and not paying her competitors adequately .

The singer also disclosed to News Corp that her famous mentor Guy Sebastian would only be present for 45 minutes during their coaching sessions before a team of voice coaches took over.

Natalie compared her time on The Voice to her winning glory on Australian Idol in 2007.

“I think The Voice is on its last legs. Australian Idol was so innocent, it was all about the music. Now, it’s become so commercialized, and it’s all about the money. The Voice has lost its soul, ”she said.

The brunette also revealed that she was forced to negotiate a higher salary, an apartment in Sydney, a rental car and a nanny for her young son Jebediah to appear on the show.

She ended up being paid “a thousand dollars” but noted that it was still nothing compared to the salaries earned by famous coaches.

‘I was not fed by him’: The singer also disclosed to News Corp that her famous mentor Guy Sebastian would only be present for 45 minutes during their coaching sessions before a team of voice coaches take over.

Natalie also explained that the producers initially asked her which team she wanted to be on.

Although she chose Boy George and Kelly Rowland, she was forced to choose between Guy and Delta Goodrem.

She injured herself with Guy but was not impressed with his coaching abilities.

“There is a team of voice coaches looking after us, we only see Guy literally for 45 minutes, he came over after we had done all the coaching with the voice team and gave us some advice,” she explained.

Mercilessly, she added that she was not impressed with Guy’s ‘comment’, felt like she was not ‘fed’ by him and claimed that he was putting up a front for the television.

Natalie went on to accuse the show of editing footage of herself defending herself when American star Kelly accused her of ‘screaming like a cat’ during a performance.

She also wasn’t impressed with the show focusing on the contestants’ stories rather than their actual singing abilities.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted representatives for Channel Nine for further comment.
