A 17-year-old French high school student was arrested for threatening to behead his teacher “like Samuel Paty”.

The male student, from Annecy, a town in south-eastern France, sent a message to a private Snapchat group asking other students to ‘threaten death’ one of their teachers.

French police said the teenager also wrote: ‘I’m going to do a Samuel Paty’.

Mr Paty, 47, was beheaded near his school in a Paris suburb by Abdullakh Anzorov, 18, also Chechen, on October 16.

The teacher filed a police complaint after seeing the Snapchat screenshot and the anonymous email, which led to the teenager being arrested at his parents’ home after admitting to sending the messages .
