Tokyo and London have signed the Reciprocal Access Agreement between Japan and the UK, allowing each country to deploy troops to each other’s territory to counter China’s rising influence in the Indo-Pacific. The UK is the first European country, and the second in the world after Australia, to sign such an agreement with Japan. Britain announced a new integrated foreign, defense and security policy in early 2021 with a ‘tend’ towards the Indo-Pacific, a region of economic vitality and growing geopolitical rivalry.
