Armed men on Saturday invaded the community of Alafara in the Ologuneru region of Ibadan and killed cows.

DAILY POST realized on Sunday that gunmen in the early hours of Saturday invaded the area and killed a number of cows, while leaving a few others seriously injured.

The Oyo State Police Command and the State Government confirmed the attack on the community where a number of cows were killed.

Oyo State Command Police Commissioner Ngozi Onadeko in a statement signed by the command public relations officer Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi noted that the CP on information received from a member of the public good humor, enlisted police officers to the area to determine the immediate and remote cause of the incident.

Police noted that an investigation had been ordered immediately into the incident, as police were on the trail of those responsible for the heinous act.

“As a result, the PC says it should be noted that the incident has nothing to do with the Peul / Yoruba clash and implored the people of Oyo State and the general public not to hold account for any innuendo from anywhere, while relative peace is enjoyed. good citizens of the state should not be allowed to be manipulated in any way by disgruntled elements.

“The CP reiterated the commitment of the officers and men in command to continue to protect the life and property of the peace loving people of the state. It further seeks credible, consistent and reliable information from members of the public to enable the police to better serve them.

State Governor Seyi Makinde said he had ordered the state’s health ministry to take over medical bills for some people who were injured during the attack.

Makinde in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday through his chief press secretary Taiwo Adisa noted that a government delegation led by the governor’s executive assistant for security, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd ), had visited the region.

“His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, after receiving the report of the incident, immediately deployed a team who worked with me to investigate the situation.

“We have since informed His Excellency and he has also ordered that the medical bills of the injured be fully covered by the government.”
