Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun is heading to Germany after agreeing to join RB Leipzig, according to a report.
Football insider exclusively claim that the 19-year-old striker has a pre-contract with the Bundesliga. Balogun will join the Germans this summer, when his contract with The Emirates expires.
The news will be a blow to the club, who had offered the rising star a new deal to stay in north London.
Instead, England Under-20 international Balogun will become the latest star to leave England for Germany.
The forward has scored two goals in five appearances in cup competitions. Arteta was keen for him to dedicate his long-term future to the club, but feared his agent would try to create a movement.
“You need three parties to make a deal,” Arteta said. “Of course the club want to make a deal, the manager wants to make a deal, the player wants to stay and I’m not sure about the agent.
“I’m not saying he stops [the talks progressing]is that an agreement must be found with him.
“We are negotiating with an agent, with a player who wants to stay at the club and we have to find an agreement.”
Arteta: crucial matches ahead
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has spoken about the importance of Arsenal’s next two games. He called on his team to make the Emirates a fortress again.
The Gunners needed more time to get past Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, but have won four straight and two in a row at home.
The Crystal Palace will be the next visitor to the Emirates on Thursday before the Magpies return on Monday. And the Spaniard is aware that he has to keep his form to be serious contenders for a European place.
“I think the next two games are crucial to see where we are heading and to reinforce all the things that we have improved and the results that we have recently had,” Arteta said.
