England kept Spurs updated on Kane’s condition and there was the same optimism at his club after the scan as there was at his national team.

Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco, who Telegraph Sport revealed Kane has been working in secret for the past three years and is believed to have strengthened his ankles, has traveled to Qatar.

It is unclear whether or not the Canada-based Spanish sports medicine specialist is in Doha to work with Kane or to support him and other players with whom he has worked closely.

But the rise of his presence in the World Cup is timely given Kane’s injury scare, meaning England’s medical team will be keeping a close eye on his ankle in the coming days.

Labeled a “genius” by US Open golf champion Justin Rose, Elorriaga has flown to England for a week every month for the past three years to work with Kane.

It is clear that Kane is personally working with Elorriaga away from Tottenham’s training grounds, flying him to England and working with him at his own expense.

“I’ll use it maybe one week out of the month,” said Kane. “He doesn’t live in the UK, so he comes over one week a month and stays with me.

“He’s been really great to me, we’ve worked hours and hours over the past three years, built a really great relationship and I’ve seen changes in my body in terms of how my ankles were before and now after. I’m on a total different place, so that’s very nice.”

In an interview with the Times, explaining his personal conditioning program, Rose, who won the US Open in 2013, said: “Then there is Alejandro Elorriaga, a genius of a man. With him I do between 50 and 100 hours a year of acupuncture. It’s very intensive. He comes for a day or two and actually does a short MOT of my body eight to ten hours a day. I sometimes think it’s something like that [ten-pin] bowling with the bumpers up. If I veer left or right, someone is there to put me back on track.”
