Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost is back and, after three years, finally has a different core activity. The Haunted Forest has been replaced with Haunted Lost Sectors, which are spooky versions of a few existing Lost Sectors, now with glowing holograms, Glint narration, and new mechanics.
There are a few main “goals” for the Festival of the Lost that will take place over the next few weeks here:
- Get a Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle
- Unlock all pages of the Book of the Forgotten
- Get all masks and shaders and rewards from Triumphs
And the way of doing all of this is pretty self-explanatory. Run activities, get pages, run haunted wastes, convert pages, get candy all the time.
But if you wanna do that effectively? That’s a different story, and there are a few things you need to know about both Haunted Lost Sectors and Page Farming.
Haunted Lost Sectors
So, the mechanic here is that you stand in areas that spawn Headless One boss knights that need to be slain. They have special mechanics like triple shielded walls and wizarding fog, and good health
To kill them quickly, I would recommend a sword, given that they spawn on you. Relentless Whirlwind is the game because you will need ammo and damage. Another heavy would be 1K Voices with Particle Repeater enabled for high damage. I do not recommend rockets unless you want to keep blowing yourself up in those tight spaces. For the secondaries, it’s probably time to pull out your shotguns or mergers with Vorpal, a Cartesian coordinate especially if you have one, again, with Particle Repeater.
There are a few more mechanisms to this than you might think. You actually need to keep an eye out for several areas that appear, as they will have countdowns. If you do not generate additional Headless Ones in time, these areas will disappear and you will not get the “max” number of bosses to generate and therefore converted pages that you might have.
This is also true for the boss phase, as additional Headless Heads killed here, while you don’t need to kill them to complete the activity, will also convert more pages. I think the ultimate maximum for each Lost Sector is 15 bosses killed and pages converted. If you kill 9 or 10 too quickly before the final boss, you’ll have to sit around doing nothing and wait until the time runs out. Enemies simply stop spawning. It’s weird, but no, the activity is not interrupted.
There are a few quick page farming methods that are more effective than just jumping into Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit playlists.
Public events – Heroic public events are 2-3 pages long, so if you want some diversity you can run around the EDZ or Nessus just as the events spawn to burn events and get pages. Some events are obviously better (Ether Harvest) than others (Glimmer Drill) for the time it takes to complete them.
Wrathful hunts – There are two ways to do this. With a party, you can repeatedly tap the boss’s checkpoint over 5 pages every 45 seconds or so. In solo, you can choose an easy one (Dreaming City Wizard), reset your decoy charge as soon as you spawn, and then continue to farm it quickly and endlessly. Fallout has a video showing this method:
Corrupted Expulsion: Tartarus – You can go back to last season for the Tartare Quick Races, as you can clear that in just over three minutes if you do it right, and it will give something like 5 pages and 300 candies per race. To do this effectively, you need to know how to do the hopping jump:
Lake of Shadows – It’s dark this week and you can quickly run the Adept version in about 3 minutes with a good group for lots of pages and candy. This will alone work this week, because the Nightfall is going to change, and you’ll need a team that knows what it’s doing to make it super efficient.
For my money, I mostly do public events because I can’t stand doing the exact same activity too many times in a row. But the other methods are probably better overall. I think the pages cap at 75 so start converting before you hit that cap and they’ll be wasted. And anything that earns you pages also earns you candy, so I’m not sure if it’s worth writing separate farms for that.
One last remark:
The ascending lens
If you got the reward for completing Festival content last year, Ascendant Lens, you can turn her into Mara Sov in her apartments and she will give you 21 Pages, 3 Jurassic Green Scrolls, and 1 Prism for your problem. . A nice little bonus.
