“I have a small reservation about Harshal Patel”: Aakash Chopra analyzes speed attack in India ahead of ICC T20 WC 2022

India’s roster for the upcoming T20 World Cup was quite surprising. Harshal Patel has replaced Mohammed Shami which is amazing considering we all know how effective Shami can be on the Australian Bouncy fields. India has opted for youth over experience as it can be quite risky in the marquee.

BCCI would know that India has not won the ICC T20 World Cup since the beginning of IPL. The 15 year drought is unacceptable as Indian Cricket has mind boggling talent. Selectors have also mentioned Arshdeep Singh, who offers management a left-arm option. It would be interesting to see this year as the 2021 edition was a disgrace to a billion people.

Aakash Chopra on Harshal Patel

Aakash Chopra analyzed an Indian bowling attack. “You have invested a lot in the confidence that Bumrah will be back in top shape not only in fitness but also in form and the same goes for Harshal Patel. I have a small reservation about Harshal – the sample size of match winning performances is not there in international cricket.Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t have kept Bumrah or Harshal, you didn’t have too many options, but you could have kept one more fast bowler as part of this team because at the moment we hope both are fit and in shape.he added.

Arshdeep Singh has not done anything special with the new ball so far. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a bit disappointed with the old ball. So you have very simple options – Bhuvi with the new ball, Arsh with the old ball. You expect Arshdeep Singh to be your gun death bowler. I think he still isn’t. You only have one gun death bowler – that’s Jasprit Bumrah. You have one new ball bowler – that is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. You take a small chance with the other two,” he said.

An impending bowling attack

India would definitely miss Shami’s services but apart from that they have world class bowlers in the form of Bumrah & Bhuvneshwar who can rattle any opponent on any given day. The duo have enough experience to succeed in Australian conditions

It would be interesting to see who the 3rd Seamer would be as both Arshdeep and Harshal. Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma have a puzzle as both are quite lethal upon death. BCCI hopes that the decision to drop Shami from the 15-man team will not be disappointing, as many experts criticize this move.
