Friends and family gathered on Monday to remember a local woman who was killed in Sheraden last year.
It’s been a full year since the murder of Ashley Roberts.

Roberts was shot and killed by a car on January 23, 2022 in the Sheraden neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
“I miss her smile, her laugh,” said an emotional Melissa Rourke, Ashley’s mother. “It’s hard. It’s even harder to be back to where it happened.
On Monday night, Rourke gathered with friends and relatives along Minton Street, the street where Ashley lost her life.
They lit candles and released balloons in honor of the murdered mother of four.
“We’re going to celebrate her today instead of mourning her. She was a wonderful person, a wonderful mother, and everyone misses her,” said Ashley’s friend, Melanie Sorochman.
Last month, Pittsburgh police charged 28-year-old Alec Stefanovits with murdering Ashley. It finally brought some closure to her family.
“It was my best Christmas present ever,” said Rourke.
According to police papers, two witnesses came forward who claimed that a man named Steven Bundridge hired Stefanovits to kill Ashley because he believed she was stealing from him.

Bundridge was shot and killed in Spring Garden not long before Stefanovits’ arrest last month.
“It’ll be even better if he’s found guilty and convicted,” Rourke said.
Stefanovits is due back in court on February 7 for formal charges.
