ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2022: “You need someone with that kind of pace” – Danish Kaneria thinks Umran Malik should have been included in India’s roster

India’s Squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has made a lot of headlines. Many experts believe that Shami should have been in the squad for Harshal Patel. It seems that the selection committee has chosen youth over experience. The absence of young speedster Umran Malik is also surprising as he has shown in IPL that he can be a force to be reckoned with.

The selection committee hopes the duo Rohit Sharma & Rahul Dravid put in a better performance this time around, as we have all seen the disastrous 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The borders in Australia would be very long compared to the UAE where the batters have to set short borders and apply the calculation approach.

Danish Kaneria on Umran Malik

Danish Kaneria spoke on his YouTube channel and talked about Umran Malik. ‘They could also have tried Umran Malik. India needs a bowler who can bowl at a good pace on the Australian circuits. Jasprit Bumrah is returning from injury and it will take time to find the rhythm.” said Danish Kaneria

I know he’s still very raw. But you need someone with that pace. Umran should have been there at the Asian Cup instead of Avesh. This would have given them a clearer idea.” added the spinner.

Powerful Indian Bowling Attack

The addition of Bumrah & Harshal has made the Men in Blue quite dangerous. Management would be well aware that they will need some playtime before reaching the purple patch. Both pacers are coming back from injuries and making a comeback is always difficult.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will have to make sure he isn’t beaten by the death-overs. There is no doubt that the pacer is one of the best with the new ball in hand, but the pacer has to work on its Yorkers and slow deliveries to mislead the batters. The trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah & Harshal Patel has the caliber to dismantle the opposition on any given day.
