‘If rape happens, is it their CM doing it?’: Tejashwi Yadav lashes out at BJP over mass shooting in Begusarai


Following Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s criticism of the Nitish Kumar-led government over the Begusarai shooting incident, Bihar Deputy Prime Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav backed the Prime Minister on Thursday and said he cannot be blamed for the incident.

Yadav, who further criticized the Union minister, questioned whether Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states could be held accountable for crimes and other mishaps that have occurred in their states.

“If crime happens in BJP-ruled states, is it their CM doing it? If rape happens, is it their CM doing it?” Yadav was quoted by news agency ANI.

The deputy CM highlighted crimes in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and asked if it was ‘Ram raj’ that is common there.

“On what basis does the BJP question our law-and-order situation? Huge crimes are happening every day in Uttar Pradesh, is it ‘Ram raj’ there?” he sought to know.

“Some people are trying to paint the (Begusarai) incident a different color. It’s ‘janta raj’ here. The full form of the BJP is ‘Badka Jhootha Party’. They never do what they say, all they do is divide people and poison society,” Tejashwi added.

Giriraj Singh launched an attack on the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan administration, saying: “When criminals lose their fear, something like Begusarai happens. Criminals go free on the road and open fire for 30 kilometers through four police stations. Fear is something that people experience.”
