World Cup is the time we want to peak: Pat Cummins

Cummins claims that after taking a much needed vacation in recent months, he is now prepared for the busy schedule ahead and confident that he can contribute in any environment.

“I want to play a lot, so when the World Cup comes, I feel like my game is okay,” said Cummins.

“That World Cup is when we want to peak, so I think we’ll find that balance between making sure we’re ready, but not overcooking the start of the World Cup.”

“I probably feel the best I’ve felt in a year or two. My body feels fresh, it feels like I’ve had a mini pre-season. In terms of mentality, I feel really fresh and ready to hang in there, so it was a great vacation. A few niggles are fine,” he added.

Unlike India, which has long held the top spot in the shortest version of the game, the Australians are the reigning T20 World Cup champions.

Since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup last year, India has played exceptionally well, making the upcoming series fascinating. Moreover, they have not released a series in the shortest format regardless of location, except for the unforgettable performance in the just ended Asian Cup.
