The Indian Cricket Team’s underperformance in 2022 Asia Cup has raised many eyebrows. The Men in Blue has not been competitive against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage. The team has not been able to take advantage of a good start and most importantly the midfielders have hurt India.
Management has not been able to find a real middle-class batter other than Virat Kohli. People like Suryakumar and Rishabh have failed to live up to their expectations. The management surprised everyone by not including Dinesh Karthik in crunch matches. The veteran has been with the team since 2006 and is an accomplished campaigner.

BCCI official stressed hitting the middle-overs in India. “Yes, the performance of the Asian Cup has been discussed. But of course the focus is more than problems on solutions and what are the things that need to be improved during the T20 World Cup.” a senior BCCI official who was aware of the developments told PTI on terms of anonymity.

A wake-up call for India
Indian Cricket Team will have to be perfect in the middle overs or else their campaign would be damaged. We’ve all seen how the game changes between 7-15 overs. Rohit Sharma & Rahul Dravid will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat; the batters like Hardik Pandya can be promoted up the ante.
BCCI has been dealt a huge blow because Ravindra Jadeja is out of the tournament. He could have been the match winner, as he has all the attributes of a mid-range batter. It would be too early for someone like Axar Patel to fill the middle position. It would be very interesting to see India’s strategy in the upcoming T20I series against Australia, which kicks off on September 20.
