IND vs NZ: “Always prefer playtime to practice” – Mohammed Shami

The New Zealand cricket team suffered a huge defeat against India in the 2nd ODI. The Men in Blue bundled Black Caps for a paltry 108 runs and chased the target in 20.1 overs. Mohammed Shami was the sloper in chief taking 3 wickets for 18 runs in his 6 overs period.

New Zealand batters ran into all sorts of trouble during the power-play overs where they scored only 15 runs and lost 4 wickets. Aside from Glenn Phillips, no batters scored 35 runs with the batters debating whether to attack or defend, hurting the team.

Mohammed Shami on workload management

Mohammed Shami interacted with the media and received questions about workload management. “I always prefer to play matches than train. It is always better to play a maximum number of games to prepare for a big event. Cargo is managed and properly managed. I just hope the key players stay in a good zone (for the World Cup).” said Muhammad Shami.

Great triumph for India

The Men in Blue made a resounding statement after a hard-fought win in the 1st ODI. It was a collective effort by the bowlers with no rest for the Kiwi batters. It would be interesting to see if Rohit Sharma makes any changes in the 3rd ODI.

There are chances New Zealand will bring Ish Sodhi back when fit as the leg spinner has a knack for breaking partnerships. The management needs to have serious talks with the players as such performances can demoralize the team.
