IND vs NZ: “I think the start with the ball wasn’t great” – Tom Latham after losing 3rd ODI against India

The New Zealand cricket team lost the 3rd ODI by 90 runs as the team was bowled out for 295 runs in 41.2 overs. Devon Conway smashed a turbulent century as the left-handed batsman scored 138 runs in 100 balls, hitting 12 fours and 8 sixes with a sublime touch.

New Zealand would regret allowing Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill to forge a mammoth partnership of 212 runs in 26.1 overs which took the game away from them somewhat. There were high hopes for Lockie Ferguson to provide the breakthroughs, but the speedster went wicketless.

Skipper Tom Latham would be disappointed with his own performance. The left-handed batter got out on the very first ball of the game where he checked his shorts. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the captain’s burden has affected his natural game.

The Men in Blue would be brimming with confidence as not many expected India to whitewash the powerful Kiwis. Thanks to this victory, India is now the number 1 ranked ODI team. Skipper Rohit Sharma is said to be extremely pleased with the performance as the team showed fighting spirit.

I think the start with the ball wasn’t great, Tom Latham

During the post-game presentation, Tom Latham was asked about the game. “I think the start with the ball wasn’t great. Great partnership but we pulled it back to 380. We were in a great position in the chase but we lost too many wickets. This is our last experience before the World Cup, so we have an idea.” said Tom Latham.

A great experience for everyone – Tom Latham

“We wanted to build depth and it has been a great experience for everyone. The more you are in these situations, the more you learn.” he added.
