India will once again close the horns with New Zealand, but this time in a different format. The 1st ODI will be played in Eden Park, Auckland. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian side and the team is missing some of their big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Shubman Gill likely opens the at bat with the skipper. One of Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson will be the goalkeeper tomorrow. Arshdeep Singh is likely to lead the bowling attack and is likely to have the help of at least two from the list – Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Sen.

New Zealand, on the other hand, has their regular skipper, Kane Williamson, back in the line-up after missing the final T20 at Napier due to a medical appointment. Tom Latham returns to New Zealand as he joins the squad alongside Matt Henry, replacing Blair Tickner and Ish Sodhi from the T20 squad.

Without Sodhi, Michael Bracewell might have a go tomorrow. The pace charge is led by Tim Southee with Adam Milne and Matt Henry. This promises to be an exciting encounter and we expect both teams to leave tomorrow with all weapons.

IND vs NZ: Head to head

IND vs NZ Head-to-Head (in ODIs): The two teams have competed in 105 ODIs, with India winning 55 and New Zealand taking 49 wins. 1 game has ended in a draw and five have been unfinished due to bad weather.

IND vs NZ: Pitch report

The new bowlers get a lot of lateral movement early on at Auckland’s Eden Park. The batters will try to take advantage of the short square boundaries after getting their attention. The spinners don’t have a good track record at this location. The team that wins the coin toss will try to bowl first and chase the target with some dew expected in the bottom of the second innings.
