IND vs NZ: Watch – Shubman Gill gets a standing ovation after reaching his ODI Double Century

The Indian cricket team had won the toss and opted to bat first in the 1st ODI against New Zealand. Shubman Gill started the innings cautiously. The batsman looked like a man on a mission as he won his consecutive century and whacked the bowlers all over the park.

Apart from Shubman Gill, no batters scored 35 runs, which is quite surprising. There was one controversial decision by Hardik Pandya from the 3rd referee which raised many eyebrows. Right-handed batsman Shubman Gill did not panic after his dismissal, as the batsman continued to play attacking cricket.

Big chance for India

India managed to post a massive 349-8 target where Shubman Gill scored 208 runs in 149 balls where he hit 19 fours and 9 sixes. Management would be delighted with Shubman’s performance as the pace of his innings was phenomenal. The batter has now given the Selection Committee a headache with this knock.

New Zealand would require a huge effort to win the match. Despite the pitch being in the batters’ favor, pushing boundaries won’t be easy against players like Washington Sundar and especially against Kuldeep Yadav, who is in the shape of his life. It would be interesting to see New Zealand approach this target as if they were going crazy or going deep.
