In the third one-day international of the series on Tuesday, Team India defeated New Zealand with ease, winning by a score of 90 points and securing a 3-0 win in the series. After two superb hundreds from Rohit Sharma (101) and Shubman Gill (112) helped the hosts record a massive 385/9 in 50 overs, the pair sewed a 212-run stand for the first wicket.

With Devon Conway hitting 138 in reply, New Zealand could only count 295; for India, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets each.

Shubman Gill was named player of the series for his outstanding performance in the three ODIs. He hit a superb double century (208 in the first game), an unbroken 40 in the second and then another hundred in Indore. He tied Pakistani skipper Babar Azam for top runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series with 360 runs in three matches.

Shubman Gill and Rahul Dravid take part in a fun interview

The BCCI uploaded a video of Shubman Gill and head coach Rahul Dravid discussing the team’s convincing win after its third ODI win. The relationship between the two dates back to 2017, when Dravid Gill led the Indian Under-19 team to World Cup triumph in New Zealand. The boy served as vice-captain of the winning team. Both have worked on projects during their various employments with India “A”.

Dravid, who has carefully followed Gill’s cricketing career, praised the young India opener for his outstanding efforts with the first team when the two spoke about Gill’s recent ODI exploits. Gill highlighted a specific gesture made at the venue for the third ODI – Holkar Stadium in Indore for Dravid towards the end of the video.
