Kuldeep Yadav sacked India’s nemesis Dasun Shanaka after scoring just two runs in today’s ODI at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. The Sri Lankan captain was skilfully startled by the wrist spinner, who bent it around his legs to ensure no firecrackers would come from the batsman in this match.
Sri Lanka had already lost too many wickets by then, so Shanaka tried to do what he does best – counter-attacking and putting pressure on the bowler. He attempted to get within the line of Kuldeep’s ball resting on the leg stump and sweep it to a boundary, in a daring attempt to turn the tide of the match.
Innings break!
Great bowling effort from our bowlers as Sri Lanka are all out for 215 in 39.4 overs.

However, Kuldeep Yadav was smart enough to deliver the ball with precision, leaving it with no spin. Dasun Shanaka was surprised when he tried to sweep the ball only to find it had no spin, knocking his leg stump over.

It is mind boggling to think that Kuldeep Yadav was only chosen for the XI due to a necessary replacement of Yuzvendra Chahal. The left-arm wrist spinner has often been the subject of tough selection decisions, but he continues to perform admirably in the few opportunities he gets. Despite the odds, Kuldeep has consistently proven his worth and remains a valuable asset to the team.
