He was extremely sad and disappointed – Mohammad Kaif

During a discussion on Star Sports, Mohammad Kaif Kuldeep praised Yadav for making a comeback after a discouraging stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) (IPL) of the Indian Premier League. The cricketer turned commentator credited Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma for showing confidence in Kuldeep during his difficult period.

“He is a player who was not even forced to be on the IPL bus. The KKR guys didn’t even get him on the team and grounded him. He’s made to sit in the room, that he’s in the 25 but won’t get into the 15,” said Mohammed Kaif.

“It was such a situation. He was extremely sad and disappointed but kept on trying. He got support from Rishabh Pant as captain when he played in IPL and Rohit Sharma is here with him. he added.

The 28-year-old sat on the bench for an entire tournament in 2021 and only played four games in the 2020 season. Kuldeep was released by KKR ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction and snapped up by the Delhi Capitals. He had regular chances for the Delhi Capitals and became the fifth highest wicket taker with 21 wickets in 14 matches. Kuldeep collected four Man of the Match awards and was instrumental in the Capitals winning seven league games.

He has seen many ups and downs at a very young age – Mohammad Kaif

Kaif said that Kuldeep made minor changes to his bowling to increase the pace. The former Delhi Capitals coach stated that the Uttar Pradesh spinner has seen many ups and downs in his short career. Kuldeep received two Man of the Match awards in the last two games he played.

“There was never a problem with his bowling. Yes, he’s made a few changes. He’s getting closer to the stumps and has increased his pace, which has made a small difference, but the biggest difference is that the captain is right next to him and asks him to go get wickets.”

“Such bowlers should have the support of the captain. He has seen many ups and downs at a very young age. After a long time he also got the chance to play in a test match, where he was also the man of the match. So he’s played two games after many months, he also recently played the 3rd ODI (against Bangladesh), but eight wickets and Man of the Match in the Test match, and impressive bowling here too – took three wickets and changed course from the game when fast bowlers could not pick up wickets.
