IND vs SL: “I was able to keep the pace and we finished with 370” – Virat Kohli after hitting 113 runs in 1st ODI against Sri Lanka

Indian Cricket Team was asked to bat first in 1st ODI. India got off to a daring start as the openers managed to put up a huge 143-run partnership. Sri Lankan batters were thrashed all over the park because there was hardly anything in it for the bowlers.

Virat Kohli had a sublime touch as the right-handed batter finished his innings quite brilliantly. The batsman crushed his 45th ODI century and 73rd International ton. The batsman stood upright as players like KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya couldn’t convert their starts into big ones.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be relieved as the batting unit clicked after a forgettable Bangladesh ODI Series. KL Rahul would be hugely disappointed with his performance as the batsman scored 39 runs in 29 balls and was bowled round the legs which is quite humiliating.

I was able to keep the pace and we finished with 370- Virat Kohli

“I was happy to keep the pace and we finished with 370. I would take those (missed opportunities) any day. Luck plays a big role, on such evenings you have to thank God. These evenings are important, I am quite aware of that. Grateful that I made the most of that happiness that was offered to me. I helped the team get an extra 20 runs, instead of 350. It will be the same,” he claimed

Someone’s going to have to score a 150 or 140 to chase this one down, Virat Kohli

“Someone is going to have to score a 150 or 140 to chase this. But it also gives our bowlers the chance to bowl with dew coming into play. I am very conscious of what I eat, nutrition is the most important thing at this age. That keeps me in great shape. That helps me to give 100 percent for the team.” he added.
