Indian Railways will establish approximately 500 multimodal freight terminals under the PM GATI-SHAKTI program over a period of 4 to 5 years.
“The multimodal freight terminals of the PM GATI-SHAKTI railways will be terminals where different modes of transport will be seamlessly integrated into the rail transport network. About 500 multimodal freight terminals will be created under the PM GATI-SHAKTI program within a period of 4 to 5 years, ”Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched PM GatiShakti – National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity – at Pragati Maidan in the nation’s capital.
PM GatiShakti is the result of the Prime Minister’s constant efforts to build a new generation infrastructure, which improves the ease of life as well as the ease of doing business.
Multimodal connectivity will provide seamless and integrated connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services from one mode of transport to another. This will facilitate last mile connectivity of infrastructure and also reduce travel time for people.
