Instagram image-sharing app went offline for thousands of users around the world on Thursday night, with many users complaining that they can’t open the application and upload and view posts on the platform.

After thousands of users around the world reported that Instagram is offline, the image-sharing platform has released an official statement acknowledging that social media is facing a global outage and urging users to “hold on” .

While users took to Twitter to share hilarious memes about the Instagram outage on Thursday, the image-sharing app itself posted a statement on Twitter, saying it’s working on fixing the issue that should be resolved soon.

Instagram acknowledged the outage, writing: “We are aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience and hang in there!”

Meanwhile, users had a field day on Twitter posting hilarious memes about the outage, with desi Twitter posting memes from popular movies like Phir Hera Pheri and Welcome. Instagram is expected to work perfectly any moment now.
