The Intel NUC M15 productivity laptop will give smaller brands a boost to take on Dell and HP. It is part of Intel’s “Next Unit of Computing” or the NUC line (pronounced “Knuck”) which until now focused on mini desktop computers, especially compact gaming rigs. The NUC M15, codenamed ‘Bishop Country’, is a customizable base unit or laptop kit that can be fitted with various storage options. Intel does not sell its line of NUC products directly to consumers, but partners with brands that personalize and sell these products under their own names.
Intel NUC M15 specifications
The Intel NUC M15 is a 15.6-inch laptop that weighs less than 1.7 kg. It has a CNC anodized aluminum frame that is 14.9 mm (0.59 in) thick and is available in two colors: Shadow Gray and Black. The NUC M15 was designed to support Intel’s new 11th generation Tiger Lake 10nm processors. The options are between Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processors. The laptop will also feature Intel’s new Iris Xe integrated graphics announced last month.
Intel claims that the NUC M15’s 73 Wh battery can provide up to 16 hours of video playback on a full charge. The laptop also supports fast charging and is supposed to give four hours of video playback with 30 minutes of charge. The laptop is also equipped with Wi-Fi 6.
Intel says the new laptop is built on the lines of its Athena Project – an initiative the company says will focus on fine-tuning performance and experience on ultraportable laptops. Although the NUC M15 does not fall into the ultraportable category, Intel says the NUC M15 can get the Intel “ Evo ” mark – introduced by Intel earlier this year for high-end ultraportables that have undergone testing and testing. Extensive validation at the design stage – based on the final customizations included by the brands that sell it.
Intel NUC M15 price and availability
Intel did not mention which brands would sell customizations based on the NUC M15 ‘Bishop County’, but said the laptop will become available from January 2021. And while the final price of the product will depend on its configuration as well. As of the pricing strategy of the brands that customize and sell it, Intel says it expects laptops based on the NUC M15 to sell for between $ 999 and $ 1,499 (around Rs. 74,000 and Rs. 104,000).
