Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hitter Rahul Tripathi said he never thought the game would go this far in qualifying 2 of the Indian Premier League on Wednesday. Needing 136 points to win, KKR got off to a good start, thanks to Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer. The duo took advantage of every scoring opportunity and took KKR to 51/0 in the first six overs. But they lost the plot in the final stages and it took Tripathi’s six to Ashwin in the final to take KKR over the line.

“It’s great. The win for the team was very important. We had a tough overs or two and I never thought it would go so deep. Glad to have won the game. Rabada did very well. the 18th, but I knew I just had to hook one up, ”the 30-year-old hitter said in a post-game presentation.

Tripathi also said that the positive approach given by coaches and skipper Eoin Morgan is the reason for the team’s success.
