Denver Nuggets goaltender Jamal Murray set a new record Friday night for most runs scored (50) without a free kick in his team’s 120-103 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Murray scored 50 points on 21-25 shots from the field and 8-10 on three.
His field goal percentage (84%) was the highest of any player scoring 50 or more points since Wilt Chamberlain in 1967, according to the NBA.
After the game, the Nuggets head coach shared his thoughts on Murray’s historic game.
“To do it as effectively as he did is really remarkable,” said Malone.
“It’s an incredible stat line.”
Murray, on the other hand, didn’t want to make much of his performance.
“It’s pretty cool to make history. It’s a cool statistic, ”Murray said.
Murray played two games over 50 points in the Orlando bubble but has since fallen back to Earth and is now averaging 20.6 PPG.
The Nuggets are going to need Murray to get back to that level of play if they hope to make another run in the Western Conference Finals.
But for Denver fans, it’s clear the team is starting to pick up a pace.
