She officially left the ITV daytime show in 2005, but has appeared as a guest on a few occasions since then.

And now Jenny Powell, 54, has revealed she left Loose Women because she was “intimidated” by her fellow panelists and hated the “behind-the-scenes energy.”

17 years since she last appeared on the show as a panellist, the TV presenter jokingly described the energy on set as “fake” as she explained her reasons for leaving.

Yuck! Jenny Powell, 54, has revealed she left Loose Women because she felt ‘intimidated’ by her fellow panelists and ‘didn’t like the energy behind the scenes’ (pictured as a guest in 2017)

Jenny told The Sun: ‘I fired it. I didn’t like the energy behind the scenes. I always felt a little intimidated by the other women.’

She was then overheard describing the energy as “fake” before adding, “No, I’m kidding.” Maybe I’m just a little sensitive?’

In September 2021, former panelist Saira Khan revealed that she had some of her Loose Women co-stars “just hard to tolerate”, claiming that the chat show “became toxic”.

Speaking to The Mirror eight months after leaving Loose Women, Saira explained why she left: ‘Firstly, I had outgrown the programme.

“There were some women that I thought, ‘I just have to tolerate you to do the job and in real life you wouldn’t be my friend.'” They would say the same thing about me,

Plus, on that show, I shared a lot about myself — my abuse, adoption, arranged marriages, and a lot of relationship stuff. You don’t get much thanks for that.’

When asked if she thinks her departure is the right decision, Saira continues: ‘Yes. If you get a job you don’t like, the only thing you can do is make a change […]

“When you discuss a topic with your friends in a very innocent way there, the amount of trolls you get online is appalling. It just becomes toxic to women.”

Saira announced she was leaving Loose Women just two weeks after fellow panelist Andrea McLean left the show.

When she announced her plans to leave in November 2020, Andrea burst into tears and also explained how her departure was also linked to her mental breakdown.

Andrea explained, “Like so many people, this was a time of immense reflection and reflection. So many people have talked about it that they can’t wait for life to get back to normal.

“I did that, like many people, and thought, ‘Do I want my life to go back to the way it used to be?’

She told viewers, “Last year I had a nervous breakdown and this year the world has had a breakdown. This year I have been mentally strong to handle whatever the pandemic throws at us.

You get one life, do you live it the way you want? Are you brave? Are you doing what you want?’

Andrea got emotional and added, “I didn’t think I was going to cry. I told you ladies just before we came on air. I’m leaving Loose Women because I want to be brave…

“I want to bring to life all the incredible feedback I’ve received on my book and the support I’ve been able to give them. It was a very, very big decision to jump and see if I fall or fly. And I just thought, I’ll never know unless I try, so I’m saying goodbye to Loose Women.’
