Jharkhand unemployed man allegedly killed his father to get a job

Ramgarh, Jharkhand:

An unemployed 35-year-old is said to have killed his father, an employee of Central Coal Fields Limited (CCL), in Ramgarh de Jharkhand to get a job at the PSU (public sector companies) on compassionate grounds, police said on Sunday.

Krishna Ram (55), security chief stationed at the CCL’s central workshop in Barkakana, Ramgarh district, was found dead with his throat slit early Thursday, police said.

Prakash Chandra Mahto, a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), told a press conference on Saturday that Ram’s eldest son, 35, had killed him in his Barkakana neighborhood on Wednesday evening by slicing him the throat.

Police recovered a small hummer knife used in the crime and the cell phone of the man who was killed, he said.


Police say Ram’s oldest son confessed during questioning that he killed his father to get a CCL job for compassionate reasons.

Under CCL provisions, an employee’s legal dependent would be assigned a job if the employee dies while in office, police said.
