Just Stop Oil: Police officer injured in truck crash during M25 blockade – follow protests live


AA police officer has been injured after two police motorcycle lorries crashed on the M25 amid Just Stop Oil protests.

Two people were also arrested for causing public nuisance when the climate group started their third day of action on the busy highway.

Essex police said the “serious” incident, which took place on Wednesday morning, resulted in road closures between J26 and J27 in a clockwise direction.

Police have confirmed that the collision and subsequent injury to a police officer was the result of activists demonstrating in the area.

Essex Police told The Telegraph: “One person has been arrested as officers responded quickly to reports of people trying to access portals above the M25.

“Initially, officers intervened to deal with a protester on the highway between Junction 26 and 27. This put in place a rolling road block.

“Then there was a collision between two trucks and a police motorcycle.

“Fortunately, the motorcyclist was not seriously injured.”

A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said the collision this morning was “a terrible situation” but doubled its cause, adding: “In normal circumstances this would be unacceptable”.
