BS Yediyurappa declared assured action against those involved in illegal acts which led to the explosion

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said today that “ruthless” action would be taken against those involved in illegal acts which led to a quarry explosion in Chikkaballapura killing six people.

“What would you have done if you were in my shoes?” he said when asked why the government was not alert following a similar explosion in a Shivamogga quarry last month, killing an equal number of people.

“What can you or me do?” What would you have done if you were in my shoes? Tell me. Did we ask them to do things early in the morning? Retorted Mr. Yediyurappa.

Responding to the chief minister’s statement, state congressman DK Shivakumar said, “If you (CM) can’t do anything, resign, let’s go before the people.”

Six people were killed when the gelatin sticks they were trying to get rid of accidentally exploded at the site of a stone quarry in a village in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapura district early this morning.
