Pilgrims’ access to the Kedarnath sanctum sanctorum has been banned for the time being due to a huge influx of pilgrims. After a drop of nearly two months in the number of visitors during the monsoon season, there has recently been a sharp increase in the number of devotees thronging the temple.
“We have provisionally banned devotees from entering the sanctum sanctorum of the temple because the space inside is limited and the haste is too great. As long as the ban is in effect, devotees cannot go beyond the sabha mandap for darshan” , BKTC president Ajendra Ajay told PTI.
Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay told ANI that due to the huge crowd, access to the shrine has been banned. He said: “The crowd is expected to stay until October 15, after which it will be reconsidered”. According to reports, eleven lakh pilgrims reached Kedarnath Dham.
