Kerala auto rickshaw driver wins Rs 25 crore lottery; this is how much he gets after tax deduction


An auto rickshaw driver from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram has won a lottery worth Rs 25 crore. The man, named Anoop, won the bumper prize in the Onam lottery this year.

Anoop bought the ticket from the Bhagavathy bureau on Saturday and won the life-changing amount.

Before he became a rickshaw driver, he was a cook. He planned to move to Malaysia to work as a cook, but fate had other plans.

He had also received a loan to go to Malaysia.

Kerala Finance Minister BN Balagopal pulled the lucky ticket on Sunday afternoon in the presence of Minister Antony Raju and Vattiyoorkavu MLA VK Prasanth.

His ticket number was TJ-750605.

He receives Rs 15 crore 75 lakh after income tax deduction.

67 lakh Onam tickets were purchased for Rs 500 per ticket.

The lottery is one of the biggest sources of income for the government of Kerala.
