New Delhi: Hindutva champion Veer Savarkar once again clouded political waters on Wednesday when the leftist government in Kerala presented him along with other freedom fighters along the route for Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
The ideological fiasco was soon realized by Kerala’s independent MLA PV Anwar. The yatra soon became a ‘chaipkao’ movement: Savarkars photos were covered by posters of Mahatma Gandhi.
BJP lashes out at Rahul Gandhi
Swearing at Wayanad MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BJP spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla said: “Rahul ji, no matter how much you try… history and truth will come out.”
“Savarkar was Veer! Those who hide are the ‘kaayars’”.
“Oops! It seems that all of Rahul’s attempts to cover up history have failed!” tweeted Poonawalla, adding: “Veer Savarkar whom Rahul spews lies at was exposed when his #BharatJodo Yatra in Aluva, Ernakulam carried posters of Veer Savarkar! Later they tried to cover it up! Savarkar Zindabad.”

Poonawalla said that truth and history cannot be hidden. “It doesn’t matter how many lies and poison Rahul Gandhi spews, and he even rejects Indira Gandhi’s views on Savarakar.”
Poonawalla called Savarkar “the greatest of the greats” and so pictures of Veer Savarkar were posted in Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress.
“The truth is that Veer Savarkar, Mahatma Gandhi and all these great leaders have fought for India’s independence, but Congress only brought honor to one family – the Nehrus and Vadra dynasty and avoided contributions from others,” the BJP said. -leader.
Congress blames BJP for posters
Savarkar’s poster was spotted along with other freedom fighters by Kerala’s independent MLA PV Anwar, supported by the LDF.
“When it was pointed out that VD Savarkar’s photo was on the poster of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Aluva, the Muslim League’s story was that the poster is from Karnataka, where the BJP installed the poster during the Independence Day celebrations. “But the poster is from Kerala, not Karnataka. Congress has corrected its mistake by covering Savarkar’s image with Mahatma Gandhi,” Anwar said.
Congress compares Savarkar to Jinnah
The fight over Savarkar’s photos and poster is nothing new in South India. In August this year, there were violent protests in Karnataka and senior state congress leader BK Hariprasad brought himself into controversy by calling Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Veer Savarkar “the same”.
“It is because of Jinnah and Savarkar that the country is facing the current situation,” Hariprasad said.
Veer Savarkar was an atheist. He doesn’t believe in any god. Likewise, Jinnah was also an atheist. Two atheists came together to bring the nation to its present state,’ he had said.
