KL Rahul & Deepak Chahar in line to make comeback for 2022 Asia Cup: Reports

Indian batter KL Rahul and fast bowler Deepak Chahar will make a comeback with the Indian team for the Asian Cup tournament at the end of this month.

The duo was sidelined by injuries, but recovered in time for the 6-nation tournament. Rahul successfully underwent groin surgery while Chahar recovered from a thigh injury.

KL Rahul doesn’t have to prove anything. He is a class player. When he plays T20 it is always like a specialist opener and that would continue. Surya and Rishabh are ready to play as mid-range specialist hitters in the future,” a BCCI source told PTI on terms of anonymity.

Harshal Patel is also in the running for the pacer slot, but he has yet to fully recover from the ribcage injury. His admission is dependent on the fitness of the match. As for Chahar, he can return to the herd as a backup option for Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Deepak was one of India’s consistent T20 bowlers before getting injured. He deserves a fair shot and we also need a like-for-like backup for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Even now that he comes back, he would beed to play many games to get his rhythm back,‘ the source added.
