Deputy police superintendent Kayode Popoola and members of his team were arrested for collecting a bribe of 100,000 naira.
Adebayo Taofiq, public affairs chief of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Working Group, said in a statement on Sunday.
Popoola is the team leader of the Task Force operating on the Lekki-Ajah axis in Lagos.
Taofiq said the bribe was paid by a certain Didi Ekanem.
She owns a Toyota Venza with APP number 775 GJ and was caught driving against traffic around Lekki Ajah Expressway.
“After the transfer, the vehicle was then handed over to Ekanem. They will be returned to Lagos State Police Command for further disciplinary action, ”Taofiq said.
The spokesperson confirmed that the task force chairman, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, had ordered the arrest of Kayode and others.
Egbeyemi warned motorists to refrain from driving against traffic, adding that the culprits will be charged in the Lagos State Mobile Court.
He told citizens to stop luring agents with money and reminded them that the giver and the receiver are both responsible in law.
