A The surge in spring and summer vacation bookings is fueling “vaccine confidence” among those over 50.
Travel agencies are reporting a sales boom thanks to bookings from older customers, many of whom will be among the first to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Andrew Flintham, Managing Director of TUI, said: “We are seeing a clientele or an age group that didn’t book before, who are starting to book. The over 50s, we assume, are on the back of the vaccine news.
“People book later in the summer, hedging their bets. More July and August and a lot of demand for September and October. People are booking longer vacations, we see more people booking 10, 11 or 14 nights rather than seven. People may be making up for what they missed. ”
Tour operators have also noticed a growing demand for multigenerational vacations.
“We all missed out on family time. We can’t distance ourselves from our own families, but we can’t see our larger families, and that fuels our choices, ”Mr. Flintham said.
