Launch of the Citroën C5 Aircross SUV in India; Prices start at Rs. 29.90 Lakh


The Citroën C5 Aircross is sold in two variants and is the brand’s first offering in India to take on the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Volkswagen T-Roc.

Launching its operations in India, Citroën launched the new C5 Aircross SUV with prices starting at ₹ 29.90 lakh for the monotone Feel variant, ₹ 30.40 lakh for the two-tone Feel variant and ₹ 31.90 lakh (all price, ex-Delhi showroom) for the high-end Shine variant. The new Citroën C5 Aircross arrives in the country as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit and is assembled locally at the company’s facilities in Tamil Nadu. Pre-bookings for the C5 Aircross have been going on for some time now at a token of ₹ 50,000. The Citroën C5 Aircross looks quirky but with a sympathetic and rugged design theme

Citroën cars are known for their quirky styling and the C5 Aircross is no different. The model is big and daring but different. The model comes with the Citroën signature grille with a matte black finish and brand emblems finished in chrome. The SUV also receives a side body and wheel arch cladding with Citroën’s various color packs. The rear profile boasts of the sturdy bumper and wraparound taillights that receive the signature LED treatment.

On the Feel variant of the Citroën C5 Aircross, the French SUV receives the 18-inch two-tone diamond-cut Swirl alloy rims, halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, 3D LED taillights, ORVM turn signals, front fog lights with turn function, rear fog lights and LED brake light. Meanwhile, the higher-end Shine trim adds LED projector headlights and a panoramic sunroof.

The cabin quality is top notch and there are plenty of features, on par with most rivals

Inside, the Citroen C5 Aircross continues the division theme on the dashboard with the two air vents. The cabin receives a Metropolitan Gray interior, with the choice of two upholstery options – gray grained leather and graphite cloth with advanced comfort seats. The standard feature list includes a 12.3-inch TFT instrument screen, dual-zone climate control, alloy pedals, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with mirror screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a six-speaker audio system.

Other features of the SUV include an electrically adjustable driver’s seat made of special foam which aims to make the cabin extremely comfortable. The car also receives individually adjustable second row seats with a recline function for the same reason. One of the big highlights is Citroën’s advanced comfort suspension with progressive hydraulic cushions that push back most of the ripples in the road for a smooth ride quality.

The C5 Aircross Review comes with snow and off-road modes with Grip Control, while power comes from the 2.0-liter diesel.

The power of the Citroën C5 Aircross comes from the 2.0-liter diesel engine which develops 175 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission only. Power is sent only to the front wheels, while there is no manual offered. The SUV comes with different driving modes including snow and off-road options with Grip Control. The C5 Aircross promises certified fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl.


In terms of safety, the Citroën C5 Aircross is equipped with six airbags, ESP, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control and the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). The SUV also gets an electric parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, ISOFIX mounts, automatic door unlock and more. The C5 Aircross competes in the mid-size SUV segment and faces off against the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen T-Roc and Hyundai Tucson.
